Keep your eyes (and ears!) out for many species of warblers in the WMAs riparian areas and bottomland forest, including: Prothonotary Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, Kentucky Warbler, Swainson’s Warbler, Ovenbird, Hooded Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher, Black-and-white Warbler.
In the pine-hardwood forests and its open understories, watch and listen for: the drum of the Pileated Woodpecker and Northern Flicker, the “here-kitty-kitty” call of the Bachman’s Sparrow, the buzzy trill of the Prairie Warbler, and the “bob-WHITE” whistle of the Northern Bobwhite quail.
